The serial number shows a manufactured date in 1997, which is when I bought this new. It has been stored for the last eight years until I found it and realized how unusual this is for its age and condition. It was clean, but I thoroughly cleaned it and checked it out. The solar panel is working, the battery is working, and it comes with a brand new spare battery (~$20 for those). I also polished the few scratches out of the crystal.
