From what I have found online, this watch was made by Hamilton for military contractor Edgerton, Germeshausen & Grier, Inc. This watch goes inside a camera for the purpose of putting a timestamp on photographs. A picture of the watch appears on the photos taken by the camera, thereby showing the time the photo was taken.
