Original 1978 Timex Q Day Date, Non Running Parts/repair

I tried a new battery and it does not run, when I opened the watch there was a metal for shaped piece inside, i don't know if it was a contact or a hold down but I am sending it with the watch. The watch does show some wear and there is a crack and scratches on the crystal...
